At Chertkov Academy, Kyokushin Karate classes run three times a week and include three core pillars that build well-rounded fighting skills.
Each session blends physical development, discipline, emotional balance, and a deep immersion in martial arts philosophy.
Classes combine the traditions of full-contact karate, game-based elements, physical conditioning, and practical self-defence techniques. Children train with respect for one another, learn discipline, and develop coordination, strength, and endurance in a safe, friendly environment.
Focus mitts, shields, heavy bags, and makiwara. Students develop precise, powerful strikes, combinations, strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Defence, counter-attacks, fight psychology, and tactics. Contact conditioning hardens the body and builds mental toughness and stamina.
Foundational karate technique: classic stances, blocks, and strikes. This component prepares students for belt examinations.
This is Chertkov’s signature method—not just physical training, but a holistic approach to shaping a child’s character. All three types of training are structured systematically, with children’s psychological development in mind.
Students regularly compete, take belt exams, and see their own progress.er. This program is designed to help kids strengthen both body and mind, learn respect for themselves and others, and unlock their inner potential.
Younger students (5–8 years) learn through play, basic techniques, and team interaction. They build endurance, respect for rules, and self-control.
Older students (9–14 / 12-18 years) follow a structured physical and technical program, develop willpower and strategic thinking, and prepare for belt grading.
Sensei Oleksandr Chertkov — the founder of Chertkov Academy, a 3rd Dan in Kyokushin Karate — has many years of international experience in teaching, preparing champions, and organizing training programs.
His approach combines discipline, respect, and a deep understanding of each student.

Senpai Harun has over 18 years of experience teaching martial arts.
He holds a second dan (Nidan) in Kyokushin Karate, and brown belts in Goju-ryu and Shuri-te Karate.
Former head coach for kumite at the Endicott Dojo (New York), he’s a multiple-time international medalist (1st place in NYC 2023, 3rd place in Atlantic City 2024).
Harun also holds IFK judging certifications (kumite and kata). At Chertkov Academy, he supports every student with care and a sense of humour, helping them reach their full potential.

“My goal is for my students to surpass me in every way. I do this through fun training that focuses on developing fighting skills, strength, endurance, and movement mechanics—in an engaging and creative format.”
