Contemporary
What happens in class?
In contemporary classes, participants:
- combine contemporary dance techniques with improvisation;
- explore emotions through movement;
- learn to work as a group and create “living” choreography;
- move honestly, sincerely, and authentically.
This isn’t just a class—it’s a space for self-expression, self-discovery, and creating something unique.
Why this class?
We’re not just forming a dance group—we’re building a small creative ensemble of 6–7 participants where everyone has room to grow.
If they wish, children can prepare performances and take part in events.
Yulia already has choreography experience in Canada and is ready to support participants in their stage development.
Approach for Teens
Contemporary is an ideal dance style for teens:
- free, yet structured;
- deep, yet welcoming to beginners;
- emotional, yet free of unnecessary theatrics.
At this age, young people need a safe creative environment—and they find it here.
About the Coach
Yulia is an instructor with many years of experience in contemporary dance:
- she’s been practising modern and contemporary since before they were mainstream in Ukraine;
- has participated in international dance projects and performances;
- led the contemporary dance department at the College of Arts in Odesa;
- has experience working with teens in both Ukraine and Canada.
She loves the moment when a true “dance resonance” happens between participants—and the magic begins.
